Project Overview
SHIM_2 is a space design project that provides a relaxing environment for students and faculty members to enjoy. Situated outside the Information Science Museum of the university, which is surrounded by ordinary and monotonous buildings, the project offers a refreshing space where students can unwind and take a break.
Design Process
Purpose
The aim of the project was to create a space outside the Information Science Museum where students and faculty members could take a break from the stresses of university life and engage in social interactions. The design was based on a grasshopper concept and the prototype was developed using 3D modeling and laser cutting. The structure was constructed using wooden boards with a 200:1 ratio.
After laser cutting, 200 units were produced and labeled for this project. The design incorporates curves to add an element of elegance to the sculpture. This allows for a soft and gentle feeling to be perceived from multiple angles of the artwork.
