Project Background & Overview

During a recent 10-hour flight to Los Angeles with Air Premia, I observed several opportunities to enhance the in-flight entertainment screen. This redesign project focuses on addressing usability challenges while incorporating modern design trends to create a more user-friendly and visually appealing interface.

Original Design of AirPremia In-flight Screen

📍 Key Objectives

  • Improved User Experience (UX)
The original screen design used excessively bright colors, causing discomfort during prolonged use. My primary goal was to reduce eye strain by minimizing the use of bright colors and introducing a softer, more comfortable visual palette.
  • Cleaner Layout and Enhanced Alignment
A key aspect of the redesign was improving the overall layout, ensuring that elements are better aligned for a more organized and cohesive interface. This enhances not only visual appeal but also usability.
  • Consistency with Original Color Scheme and Icons
While improving the screen’s UX and layout, I made sure to retain the original color scheme and iconography for brand consistency. This balance between new design and existing brand elements ensures the updated interface remains familiar to users.
  • Incorporating Design Trends, Neumorphism
To give the design a modern touch, I applied a subtle neumorphic style—one of 2024’s key design trends. This adds depth and a tactile feel to the interface, making it more engaging without overwhelming the user.

🎨 Design Process

  • Conducted user analysis based on personal experience and research on in-flight entertainment systems.
  • Created wireframes to explore layout improvements and tested color adjustments for optimal comfort.
  • Developed a high-fidelity prototype incorporating neumorphism while maintaining core brand elements.

✒️Result

This redesign significantly improves the overall user experience by addressing both functional and aesthetic issues. The final design is not only visually aligned with current trends but also prioritizes user comfort, creating a more enjoyable in-flight entertainment experience.
